One of the most important events in the history of American politics occurred behind bars - and most have never heard of it. In the heat of the 1920 election Eugene Debs, a political prisoner of Woodrow Wilson, ran for President of the United States and won a million votes. In collaboration with the Eugene V. Debs Foundation and the Vigo County Historical Society & Museum, Monument is proud to shed light on one of Indiana's greatest sons and the Father of American Socialism right in his hometown of Terre Haute.
